Place Planning for Retirement Coaches

Give your clients a proven process for one of retirement's most important — and most overlooked — decisions.

Introduction

Where your clients live is one of the most consequential — and most overlooked — decisions they’ll make in the second half of life. It shapes their health, social connection, sense of purpose, and financial security. Yet for most people it remains a do-it-yourself exercise with no framework and no professional guidance.

Place Planning changes that. It’s a structured, evidence-based discipline that gives coaches a way to open and guide the place conversation with clients — one that most practices have never had the tools to address well.

How We Work with Retirement Coaches

There are three ways coaches are currently in engaging with Here for Place Planning:

  1. The Place Planning Assessment — A 20-question diagnostic across four domains (Environment, Health, Community, Finances) that scores a client’s current place and creates an immediate opening for deeper conversation. Coaches can refer clients directly.
  2. Referral Partnership — When a client is ready for a more comprehensive place evaluation, coaches refer to Here and remain connected throughout the engagement.
  3. Joint Collaboration — For clients with more complex situations, Ryan and the coach work together on the Place Planning engagement — combining retirement coaching expertise with Place Planning methodology.
